Even if you’ve been riding for a long time, there is always something new to learn. This one day course, approximately 6-8 hours, is for riders who already own and ride a motorcycle and are interested in state-of-the-art motorcycle handling techniques or just brushing up on their safe street riding skills.

You’ll discuss with your peers how to balance the mental and physical aspects of safe riding, managing risk, increasing visibility and optimizing lane position. The course also covers protective gear, rider responsibility, motorcycle inspection and care, and the effects of alcohol and other drugs on riding.

On the range, you will put into practice intense riding activities, including the techniques of managing traction, controlling rear-wheel skids, stopping quickly, cornering and swerving.

You will use your own motorcycle for this class.

The ERC does not conduct exercises that include laying your motorcycle down or any other exercise that would cause a student to drop their motorcycle. Okaloosa Ride Safe shall ensure that riders do not ride beyond their comfort and skill level, and that riders demonstrate the necessary minimal operational control and comfort with their motorcycle before attempting an exercise. At no time should riders participate in an exercise in which they feel uncomfortable or unsafe.

It should be realized that in everyday riding, a motorcyclist does not utilize the skills that become necessary in an emergency operation where extreme complex decision making is needed. Therefore, it is paramount that riders continue some sort of training on a regular basis that will allow for increased skill levels.

To qualify for participation in the ERC, you must have at least 3 months riding experience and have a motorcycle license or endorsement on your driver’s license. Riders must provide a street-legal bike that passes a safety inspection (T-clocs) and provide proof of insurance and ownership. If the motorcycle is not owned by the rider, notarized, written approval from the owner to use the motorcycle in the course must be provided. Additionally, handlebars or grips should not be higher than the top of the operator’s shoulder when properly seated on the motorcycle.

Upon completion of the Experienced Rider Course, a graduate can receive an insurance discount from participating companies.

• Must have a motorcycle endorsement on your license.

• Motorcycles and helmets (full face and 3/4) are provided, or you may bring your own DOT approved helmet

• Students must provide proper riding attire, to include…
  eye protection
  long-sleeve shirt, top, or jacket
  full-finger gloves
  long pants (preferably denim jeans)
  over ankle boots.
• If it rains the day of your class, we will still ride. You may want to invest in an inexpensive two piece rain suit.

NFSC REQUIREMENTS
Class size is 12 students. Class will not start until, at least, 10 students are registered.
If you are under 18 years of age, to register for this class you must fill out a concurrent form.
This form must be presented to the instructor at the beginning of class.
